Welcome to Pure Capital Thinking

Launched in August 2009, Pure Capital Thinking is a public service intiative put together by the Pure Capital Limited research and management teams as a vehicle through which we may use the resources of Pure Capital Limited and its employees to help improve the world we live in. Pure Capital believes in a safe, peaceful, educated, tolerant and just world.

What will we do?

There are two components to the Pure Capital Thinking initiative. The first component, the "Think for Yourself" project has as its mission, "to encourage people to look for more information on things that affect them, to question where they are getting information from, to learn to question that information objectively, and to think differently". The second component will take some of the proceeds from the success of the Pure Capital Limited business, and put that directly back into the community through charitable sponsorships.

How will we do it?

The two components of the Pure Capital Thinking initiative will be implemented separately but concurrently. The "Think for Yourself" project will use the Pure Capital Thinking website.

The Pure Capital Thinking Website

 In a world where through a wide range of mediums, entertainment intersects with the distribution of important information to participants in society, it is easy for that information to become distorted, misrepresented or manipulated. Alternative view points with significant long term benefits for society as a whole may find it difficult to penetrate the wider human consciousness, diluted as they are by the sheer volume of information that is generated every day. As a result, large swathes of the population may form ideas, viewpoints and prejudices that are based on misperceptions, misrepresentations and misinterpretations.

The Pure Capital Thinking website is an initiative to start people thinking about and questioning the assumptions they form by taking some well-known and less well-known debates or paradigms, and putting alternative analyses or viewpoints up against them. The areas covered may be seen in the headings in the menu bar at the top of this page - economy, science, politics and society.

The Pure Capital research and executive team's personal viewpoints may coincide with either, both or all sides of the discussions carried in this website. This is not important. What is important is [Pure Capital Thinking's mission] "to encourage people to look for more information on things that affect them, to question where they are getting that information from, to learn to question that information objectively, and to think differently".

In time we are looking to work with educators and would be interested in helping teachers develop programs to foster the development of critical thinking at a young age. To that end, we have included a feedback page for teachers to provide contacts details and/or any ideas they have for the development of a curriculum that may further advance current education system initiatives in this area.
